Fun Fact

Rockford was home to sock factories during World War I which were later used to make sock monkeys for children during the Great Depression. This led to an annual Sock Monkey Festival more than 60 years later which is in tribute to Barbara “Babs” Gerry who wrote children’s books about the sock monkeys
